In 2007 The Funkanauts have been booked to do shows with Lenny Williams (of Tower of Power fame & solo artist) and with the Ohio Players in Oakland. The Funkanauts will be completing a 30-minute television show for a San Francisco based cable channel, along with playing numerous dates throughout the bay area and California. Influenced by such acts as George Clinton & Parliament / Funkadelics, James Brown, Bootsy Collins, Bob Marley, Con Funk Shun and Earth Wind & Fire among them, the band has evolved into a real showstopper.
The Funkanauts in 2007 having climbed up the ladder of The Emergenza Battle of The Bands, having passed through the first three rounds with flying colors. Emergenza is an international competition with events happening in over 60 cities across the US and Europe every weekend. The Funkanauts are also members of Bands4Bands, a Bay Area coalition of musicians and bands. At the Bands4Bands 7th Annual Awards Show held March 10th 2007, The Funkanauts were awarded "Drummer of the Year" for John “MacFab” Flaherty's skills, as well as winning "Song of the Year" for "We Got Funk" which will be featured on their soon to be released record "Reclaiming the Pyramids".
Bands4Bands in 2008 has blessed the Funkanauts with awards for Best Vocals and a special award to Patrick “Brotha P” Owens for Best Bass Player of the Year. The Awards Show will be in Hayward, California this year of 2008 on March 8th.
